wwf global media relations manager lotika mehta joins ikea foundation - WWF global media relations manager Lotika Mehta joins IKEA Foundation

World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) Singapore-based global media relations manager Lotika Mehta is moving to a role with IKEA in Europe.

She joins the Swedish homeware company’s philanthropic arm, IKEA Foundation, as head of strategic communications for its Livelihoods portfolio, based in Leiden, the Netherlands.

IKEA Foundation’s Livelihoods portfolio gives grants to projects that support sustainable livelihoods in developing countries.

Mehta’s work covers the foundation’s activity in urban and rural areas. The rural part, called Agriculture Livelihoods, will cover regenerative farming, avoiding food waste through funding effective cold storage, and ensuring income for smallholder farmers. The urban part, called Employment & Entrepreneurship, is focused on providing skills to youth, refugees and underserved communities.

The move marks a return to the furniture retailer for Mehta, who previously worked for IKEA as a communications specialist in Dehli, India, in 2017.

She moves on after two and a half years with WWF, first as campaigns head for WWF-Singapore, then as global media relations manager. Her work with WWF included driving an initiative to move companies in Singapore away from single-use plastic.

Her career has included roles at the British High Commission in New Delhi, where she was head of public diplomacy and strategic communications, and professional services firm McKinsey & Company, where she was head of external relations.
