The first total lunar eclipse of this year which was also known as Super Blue Blood Moon came as predicted on Wednesday night with many people in this country waited anxiously to witness this rare celestial phenomenon. Four spots where telescopes were installed by the Astronomical Research Institute to provide the public with a better view of the moon being swallowed by the Earth’s shadow were packed with enthusiasts. They are the Central Festival mall in Chiang Mai, the Chalermphrakiat observatories in Nakhon Ratchasima, Chachoengsao and Songkhla. The moon looks bigger than normal because it is near its closest orbit point to Earth. The eclipse started at 6.30 pm and by 7.51 pm until 9.07 pm the moon was plunged into total darkness.
