Police summon 39 protesters against delayed election for questioning
Police have issued summonses for 39 activists who took part in the January 27 demonstration at Pathumwan intersection skywalk to protest against the postponement of election. Pol Gen Srivara Rangsibrahmanakul, the deputy national police chief, said Wednesday that the 39 individuals, including seven who were earlier summoned to acknowledge charge of illegal assembly, were wanted for questioning for their role in joining the demonstration which was deemed to be an offence under the Public Assembly Act for gathering in public within 150-metre radius of the palace of a member of the Royal Family. He said all 39 of them were required to report themselves to the police on Friday, failing that they would be issued with the second summonses to be followed by arrest warrants if they defy the second summonses.
