Junta denies taking down political cartoonist Facebook page

The junta and the Digital Ministry have denied their involvement in the disappearance of a parody cartoonist page mocking the military government.   On 19 January 2018, a day after the disappearance of the Facebook page Khai Maew, Colonel Winthai Suwari, a spokesperson of the National Council for Peace and Orders (NCPO), told Voice TV that the NCPO never issued an order to take down the page.   Meanwhile, Wing Commander Somsak Kaosuwan, spokesperson of the Ministry of the Digital Economy, also told the media that the ministry is not responsible for monitoring security-related content on Facebook, adding that it is, in fact, the duty of Technology Crimes Suppression Division    On Thursday, afternoon, Thai netizen noticed that the famous, satirical cartoonist page was taken down.
