Efforts to save injured wild elephant resumed today
Efforts to save the life of an injured elephant continued early Friday (Feb 23) with wildlife officials, team of veterinarians and volunteers tracking its foot trails into Khao Ang Rue Nai wildlife sanctuary in Tha Takiap district of Chachoengsao province. The elephant was injured when it was hit in the hind legs by a pickup truck while it was crossing an asphalt road about 3.5 kilometres from the wildlife sanctuary yesterday afternoon. The truck driver Chamras Promchan, 46, said as he was driving on the asphalt road which cut through the wildlife sanctuary, three elephants came out of the bushes instantly to cross the road, making him unable to apply the brake in time. The right side of the truck hit the elephant and the vehicle fell into the roadside, he said. He was slightly hurt on the right shoulder while the injured elephant was seen moving into the roadside...
