Centre for the destitute officials try to cover up their alleged wrongdoings

Some officials of the Yala Protection Centre for the Destitute have asked fund recipients to lie to investigators that they had received the full amount of the allowance from the centre despite the fact they were given only half of the amount, according to initial probe by the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC). PACC officials were in Betong district of Yala province on Friday (March 9) to investigate the distribution of student fund – 2,000 baht each – to about 200 poor pupils by the Yala Protection Centre for the Destitute. However, in reality, only 1,000 baht were handed out to each of the 200 pupils whereas the receipts showed that 2,000 baht for each pupil were given.
